Malaysia – KIDS Bits & Bytes

Building Brighter Futures Through Digital Literacy

Stewarding a legacy that honours students’ heritage while equipping them with the skills to thrive in a globally connected world.

Kids Bits & Bytes is a structured, systems-level initiative of Fondation Rolf Schnyder (and its Malaysian arm, Persatuan Kebajikan Rolf Schnyder). We believe every child deserves more than access to technology — they deserve the skills to think computationally, solve problems creatively, communicate effectively, and participate confidently in the digital world.

A Global Commitment with Local Impact

Fondation Rolf Schnyder serves as Code.org’s International Partner in Malaysia. Through Kids Bits & Bytes, we are embedding high-quality foundational computer science education directly into Sarawak’s public preschool system.

In partnership with the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK), Sarawak is the first state in Malaysia — and among the first globally — to fully integrate this programme into the preschool curriculum, currently reaching 80 SeDidik centres statewide.

Building Future-Ready Skills

Using internationally benchmarked platforms such as Code.org, we introduce age-appropriate computational thinking and early AI awareness. Our curriculum nurtures curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration through engaging, structured learning.

To ensure depth of learning, we implement mastery-based progression with built-in concept checks. Students advance only after demonstrating clear understanding—building strong, lasting foundations in logic and AI literacy.

A cornerstone of our model is a Train-the-Trainer framework, equipping educators with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to deliver the programme independently—creating a sustainable multiplier effect as the SeDidik network continues to expand.

The FRS Standard

  • Discovery-based pedagogy that transforms students from passive technology consumers into proactive digital creators
  • 100% CSTA-aligned foundational computer science and AI curriculum, delivered through internationally recognised frameworks
  • Holistic digital citizenship, fostering agency, empathy, resilience, online safety, and awareness of cyberbullying
  • Internationally recognised certificates upon completion

Integrated Curriculum & Measurable Impact

Kids Bits & Bytes is Malaysia’s first preschool AI curriculum fully integrated across 80 SeDidik centres in partnership with the Sarawak government.

Students follow a structured learning pathway:
Course A → Course B → AI for Oceans

  • Over 700 students annually benefit from this programme
  • Thousands more reached through ongoing expansion
  • Educators receive comprehensive training, ensuring consistent quality and long-term sustainability

By embedding digital learning within existing education systems, we expand equitable access and support measurable gains in student leadership, digital literacy, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration.

Join Us in Shaping the Future

Educators, community leaders, partners, and supporters play a vital role in building systems that endure. Together, we are enabling the next generation not only to participate in the digital world — but to help shape it.
