FONDATION ROLF SCHNYDER
Kids: Bits & Bytes™ is an early childhood computer science and AI awareness curriculum, founded and led by Fondation Rolf Schnyder. The curriculum teaches children to think computationally, solve problems, and navigate technology safely and with confidence. Our goal is to build these foundations early, so the skills children gain now carry them through school and into the work of the future.
Kids: Bits & Bytes™ was created by Fondation Rolf Schnyder in August 2022 and has since been delivered through partnerships with governments, universities and learning platforms.
As a certified Code.org Professional Learning Partner, we deliver this curriculum across Malaysia through a train-the-trainer model, so that computer science becomes a lasting part of public education.
How this works.
International Educational Standards
The Kids: Bits & Bytes™ curriculum aligns with global CSTA standards, with an emphasis on problem-solving, logic, and computational thinking.
Human-Centred AI Foundations
Our team developed the HAIL™ (Human-Centred AI for Learning) framework, built around the principle of “Think First, AI Second” — so teachers and students don’t just understand how generative AI works, but learn to actively shape how they use it, directing and questioning its output rather than accepting it passively. For our youngest learners, some as young as six, this begins with basic AI awareness: a simple, age-appropriate understanding that what an AI system puts out depends entirely on what it’s given. They learn this in the classroom, guided by a trained teacher, long before they use an AI tool themselves.
Lasting Partnerships
In August 2022, Fondation Rolf Schnyder signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) and Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak. Together with a Code.org Professional Learning Partnership for curriculum and teacher certification, this collaboration has equipped 107 SeDidik centres across Sarawak with sustained teacher training and integrated digital literacy applications.
Kids: Bits & Bytes™ is developed by combining our own classroom materials with proven frameworks, in partnership with Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, and delivered by the dedicated teachers of the SeDidik Network.
In Malaysia, the curriculum is delivered with Persatuan Kebajikan Rolf Schnyder, our local implementing partner. Fondation Rolf Schnyder is listed on the Code.org Professional Learning Partner Directory.
