Myanmar – Hlaingthayar Children’s Home
In 2016, Fondation Rolf Schnyder provided funding to help establish a children’s home in Hlaingthayar Township, near existing clinical facilities. The home has been operated locally by Medical Action Myanmar.
The Foundation’s role was to help set up the facility. Day-to-day care has been carried out by the local partner.
What the home was set up to do
The home was established to provide a stable place to live for children who needed closer medical monitoring and protection, including:
- Support for children requiring consistent medical treatment
- Shelter and care for children facing serious family or protection risks
- Nutrition, schooling and practical life-skills support
The building included basic infrastructure such as solar power and outdoor play space. Longer-term support for residents was coordinated with local community organisations.
