Myanmar – The Rose Clinic

In 2013, Fondation Rolf Schnyder provided funding to help establish the Rose Clinic in the Thanlyin District, south-east of Yangon. The clinic has been operated locally by Medical Action Myanmar.

The Foundation’s role was to help set up the facility and support the clinical team in its early years. Day-to-day medical work has been carried out by the local partner.

Services

The clinic was established as a community medical facility, with a focus on:

  • Paediatric care and treatment for childhood malnutrition
  • Maternal healthcare and family planning, including support for HIV-positive pregnant women
  • On-site laboratory testing so patients could receive results the same day
  • Nutritional support and help with transport so treatment could continue

Historical snapshot

Records from the clinic’s earlier years reported 60 to 80 patient visits a day, or about 12,000 consultations a year. These figures describe that period and should be read as historical.
