Philippines – Tuloy Foundation

Tuloy Foundation is a Philippine organisation providing residential care, schooling and vocational training for disadvantaged children and young people. It was founded in 1993 by Fr. Marciano “Rocky” Evangelista and is run locally.

Fondation Rolf Schnyder’s role was specific: it funded an aquaponics project on the Tuloy campus to support food production and practical training for the students who live and study there.

The aquaponics project

The system covers about 2,500 square metres. It was set up to provide vegetables and fish for residents, with any surplus sold to support the school. Students help look after the project as part of campus life.

The installation was also intended as a working example of space-efficient food production that others could learn from.

The partner

Tuloy began with a small group of children in 1993 and later grew into a residential village with school and vocational training on site. The Foundation supported one part of that campus. Day-to-day care and education remain Tuloy’s work.
