Mexico – Colegio Meyalli

Colegio Meyalli is a school in Mexico serving girls from low-income households, with classes from elementary through to further education. The school has combined academic study with practical skills, parent education, and support around the wider life of the student.

Fondation Rolf Schnyder funded a permanent campus extension of four classrooms. The aim was straightforward: give the school more room to teach, without creating a separate Fondation programme on the ground.

The building work

The classrooms were built using a modular construction system chosen for durability, fire safety, seismic performance, and lower long-term maintenance. This was infrastructure support: once the rooms were in place, they became part of the school’s own campus.

What this sat inside

Colegio Meyalli’s wider work has included computing and vocational skills, arts, sport, and parent education. Fondation Rolf Schnyder did not run those activities. It helped the school house them. Teaching and care have remained with the local institution.
